How to play Golf Solitaire

Choose a round of Golf Solitaire and settle into its rules. Remove all 35 tableau cards. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Seven columns of five, one stock pass. Free solo play, no wagering.

Focus on one rule

Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Remove all 35 tableau cards. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Try to explain the aim in your own words.

Step by step

  1. Take an exposed bottom card one rank above or below the waste top, allowing ace–king wrapping.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Look at the feedback after the action.

A useful example

Waste queen accepts jack or king. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Look for the relevant detail.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take a moment to reassess the position before continuing. Keep the stated aim separate from side details such as animation or appearance. Progress is measured by the game’s own completion or scoring rules.
